Did you know...?
Fishing is thought to have been practised for over 40,000 years.

Whether you are an experienced fisherman/woman or you have never had a go but always wanted to, you can enjoy a spot of fishing at the top of the world whilst on your expedition. Arctic char are found in large numbers in various Arctic and sub-arctic freshwater climates such as the lakes in the Canadian Arctic. Here you can practice the ‘catch and release’ method of fishing, meaning that you get to experience the excitement and accomplishment of catching the fish, but the process is done in a sustainable and environmentally friendly way.

On other itinaries, mainly those offered by Hurtigruten, you may be able to take your catch back to the ship and ask the chef to prepare it for your dinner.

In most cases, equipment will be provided for you, but you can always bring along your favourite rod and relax in beautiful surroundings whilst hoping to catch some char.

A number of expeditions that offer the chance to enjoy this activity are listed below.
